What Can I Compost With Apex Organix?

If You Can Eat It, We Can Compost It!

Whether you're steak and potatoes, strictly vegan, or somewhere in between, we can help you reduce your food waste through composting.

We accept all types of food waste - including meat and dairy - as well as some paper, cardboard, and other household items. Scroll down to find our lists of the most common items you can and cannot compost with us.

  • Bread (even if it's started to mold)

  • Certified Compostable Packaging
  • Coffee filters
  • Coffee grounds
  • Cooking oil (used or unused)

  • Beef / Chicken/ Fish (and the bones)

  • Fruits and Vegetables (including the rinds, pits, and peels)
  • Leaves
  • Nuts and Shells
  • Jelly / Jam/ Marmalade/ Preserves
  • Paper Bags
  • Paper Napkins and Paper Plates
  • Paper Towel and Toilet Paper Rolls
  • Pet Food
  • Pizza Boxes
  • Plant Clippings and Dead Houseplants

  • Cloth / Fabric / Old Clothes
  • Dryer Lint
  • Keurig or other single-use coffee pods (unless specifically marked as Certified Compostable by BPI)
  • Nylon Tea Bags (Starbucks uses these)
  • Glass / Plastic / Metal Items
  • Starbucks and Other To-Go Coffee Cups and Takeout Food Containers
  • Envelopes with Plastic Address Windows
  • Yarn
